Welcome to Unit 3: The Golden Age" of Missions, the Rise of Chinese Nationalism, the Indigenization of Christianity, and Christianity in the Chinese Civil War.
The first part of the 20th century saw tremendous changes in China. From a Christian perspective, the foreign missionary movement in China matured, flourished, declined, and died. In the same decades, a Chinese Church was born, a church which today is growing very rapidly.
The turbulent forces of history, which shaped all aspects of China's politics, economy, and culture, also burst upon foreign missionaries and Chinese Christians.
This unit will give you insights into those turbulent times and prepare you for the modern period.
